This is a picture of two water fountains. This shows the principle of balance. Balance is successfully shown because the two water fountains are symmetric because they are two identical objects next to each other. The picture is clad and the symmetric fountains is the main focus. This is a picture of the top of palm trees and the sky. This shows the principle of harmony. This successfully shows harmony because the tree tops are repeated and go together with the sky to form a whole. They interact to create a pleasing picture. This is a picture of the side of a shed. This shows the principle of emphasis. This successfully shows emphasis because the RBV logo is the aspect of the picture that is emphasized. It is the first part of the picture that is noticed. This is a picture of a trash can on a parking stump. This shows variety because it has contrasting elements. You don't normally see a trash can where it is in this picture, which creates variety through contrasting elements. This is a picture of my partner next to a tree. This is the element of proportion. Proportion is successfully shown because the size of my partner and the tree is greatly contrasted. Through this picture it is immediately apparent how tall my partner is compared to the tree. The picture has good lighting and is clear. This is a picture of in-between two wings of the 800's. This picture shows unity. Unity is successfully shown because there are diversifying elements of the picture like the junk between the classrooms. However this junk, the fence, and the sky and trees behind create a sense of oneness. Although all the elements in the picture are diverse, they go together to create a picture that fits. This is a picture of birds in a tree. This picture shows rhythm. This picture successfully shows rhythm because there is a repetition of the birds in the picture. The picture is clear and the repeating element of birds is the main focus.

This is a photo looking up at a tree with light shining through. This shows the element of value. Value is successfully shown because the lightness of the sun shining through creates value. The light contrasts with the darker and shaded areas of the tree. This is a picture of the bark of a tree. It shows the element of texture. Texture is successfully shown because the bark is shown in detail and it is easy to imagine what the bark would feel like if you touched it. The picture is clear and it shows that the main focus is the bark. This is a picture of three cones positioned to make the shape of a triangle in the center. This shows the element of shape because the triangle shape is the main focus of the picture. The picture is clear and demonstrates the element of shape through a triangle. This is a picture of a flower. It shows the element of color. The element of color is successfully shown because the bright yellow color of the flowers is emphasized in the picture. The yellow is very bright compared to the dark green of the rest of the picture. This is a picture of my partner facing away from the camera and looking down the hallway. This shows the element of space. Space is successfully shown because the long space of the hallway is emphasized by how close my partner is to the camera. This is a picture of the end of a wall. This shows the element of line. Line is successfully shown because the line of the corner of the wall is the most apparent part of the picture. The line is emphasized because the background is kind of blurry but the line is clear. This is a picture of a rock. This picture successfully shows form because the rock is three dimensional and has height, width and depth. The rock is the main focus of the picture and it is clear.
1. I took these photos under a shutter speed of 1/750, and ISO of 1600 and an aperture of 5.6.
2. I struggled at first because at a shutter speed of 1/1000 the picture was too dark. To fix this I changed the shutter speed to 1/750. 3. I learned that if a picture is too dark at a high shutter speed, I need to lower the shutter speed a little. I also learned that shutter speed can catch a lot of detail, for example it caught a lot of the detail of the water balloons when they broke. Lastly, I learned that although I had to lower the shutter speed to make sure the picture was bright enough, this did make my picture slightly less clear than others because the shutter speed wasn't as high and couldn't catch as much detail. 4. I think it would be interesting to use shutter speed to take pictures of sports. For example soccer because it would be funny to see the faces players make while kicking the ball. My picture illustrates respecting yourself because it communicates how being drug free helps you to reach your full potential and happiness. The one girl who is wearing the red is jumping and happy which symbolizes this idea. The other two people on the side symbolize how drugs lead to a more depressed and limiting life. The importance of having the girl jumping is that it depicts how being drug free is a way of helping yourself reach your goals. Without drugs the sky is the limit. It is important that we all respect ourselves by allowing our capabilities to flourish. However, by using and abusing drugs you automatically take away some of your potential.
Drugs not only have harmful health effects, but they can also take over your life. Many people begin to consume their time and thoughts on drugs, when they could be spending this valuable time perpetuating their talents and making positive impacts. A respect for their bodies and capabilities is lost through drug use. I wanted to illustrate this by showing the two people on the side as unhappy and show the comparison between them and the girl who is jumping. They are stuck in a limiting lifestyle through drugs, while she is able to reach her full potential. 1. I took these photos in a dark room. I put the camera on manual mode with manual focus. I set the shutter speed to 8 seconds, the aperture at f/5.5, and the ISO was 100. I had my partner stand and wave their phone around while the Light Painting App was up. I had them try different movements and different settings on the Light Painting app.
2. I struggled to make the color really bright at first, but then I figured out that if I increased the brightness on my phone that fixed the problem really well. 3. I learned that a really long shutter speed can capture trails of light. Long shutter speeds also cause a blurred effect. Long Shutter speeds kind of capture movement through longer time frames, 4. I think it might be cool to use long shutter speed to get a picture of a car driving by at night. This would probably cause the cars lights to have a cool blurred trail. |
